Thimphu Tshechu

Thimphu Tshechu is held in Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. It is observed on the tenth day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar which goes on for three consecutive days. The Chams (dances) performed are Boed Chams (mask dances performed by lay monks), Guru Tshengye (the eight manifestations of Guru) and Shaw Shachi (dance of the stags).

Three days earlier to Thimphu Tshechu, Thimphu Dromchoe is observed for a day. On this day, all the sacred dances performed are dedicated to Palden Lhamo (the protecting deity of Bhutan).
